Considering the Mesh Meetup was last Wednesday (Nov 15) and I’m only writing about it now, proves that I am the world’s slowest blogger. In contrast, Stuart MacDonald beat not only me, but probably everybody else to the “posting punch” a la Blackberry a mere 3 hours and 44 minutes into the meetup.
My friend Paul Andersen and I headed over to the Irish Embassy around 6pm to sample the Mesh crowd and meet some of my favourite Toronto bloggers. I passed on Mesh last year, a mistake I won’t make again given the personalities and calibre of the people I met at this event. The next Mesh (Mesh 2007) is being held in Toronto on May 30/31, 2007 at the MaRS Collaboration Centre.
I could only stay a couple of hours and kicked myself later for not blocking off the whole evening in my calendar. As a result, although I got to meet the blogging favourites: Rob Hyndman, Mathew Ingram, Mark Evans and Stuart MacDonald, I ran out of time before I could really get to know the rest of the crowd.
Before I go, I have to mention a few people: Maggie Fox from Social Media Group, Jian Ghomeshi, Host for CBC TV (apparently I’m living in a bubble because I’m only person who didn’t know Jian) and Dr. Tony “Trust me, I’m a Doctor” Hung from Deep Jive Interests.
I’d also like to mention that Tony has in my opinion, won this event’s best business card contest with a very humorous 1″ x 4″ masterpiece that says “trust me I’m a doctor” (He really is), with a close 2nd place awarded to Mark Evans, VP Operations at b5media for having a card that has the words “kick ass” on it.
I dream of a day when I can write profanities on my cards.

Hey Ben - thanks so much for the mention, and now I feel a little inadequate, what with all the cool business card ideas. Maybe I should just scrawl my name and email on five dollar bills and start handing those out? That would kick ass (trust me).

Might get expensive with all the people you’re meeting these days Maggie.

Kickass is swearing? Damnit that freaking sucks

In my circles it is, Jeremy. But then again, I don’t often get the chance to ‘hang’ with the cool folks at b5media. If I did, maybe I wouldn’t be such a prude.

Thanks for the props Ben. And nice work with the mesh logo complete with *reflection*
